Menjadi Gereja Injili Cerdas Konteks di Era Postmodern: Menganalisa dan Menanggapi Fenomena The Emergent Church

Era postmodern telah membawa dampak fundamental terhadap pola pikir Generasi Z. Banyak di antara mereka meninggalkan gereja, meragukan iman Kristen, dan bahkan meninggalkan iman itu sendiri. Pemimpin gereja memerlukan pemahaman yang benar tentang konteks zaman ini, dan menanggapinya dengan cerdas. Diperlukan sebuah kecerdasan kontekstual, yang berisi petunjuk tentang karakteristik pola pikir kaum muda. Kecerdasan tersebut juga harus dilaksanakan secara praktis sehingga menghasilkan pola kepemimpinan gereja yang relevan. Akan tetapi di tengah munculnya berbagai model gereja relevan, harus ada patokan yang Alkitabiah dan jelas, sehingga gereja tidak terjebak dengan filosofi dan praktek yang salah. Artikel ini meneliti fenomena gerakan The Emergent Church yang muncul dan berkembang secara cukup signifikan di Amerika dan menawarkan sebuah filosofi pelayanan yang disebut relevan terhadap generasi postmodern. Penelitian dilakukan melalui studi pustaka, dengan menggunakan sebuah kerangka pemikiran. Analisa terhadap The Emergent Church dan tanggapan terhadapnya akan didasarkan pada pandangan Kristen Injili. Temuannya dapat menjadi masukan dan pelajaran bagi gereja-gereja di Indonesia sehingga bisa menanggapi dengan cerdas jika gerakan ini, atau yang serupa, merambah ke Indonesia.
